Close up of the Pillars. The sand in the storm that turned the skies brown reminded me of Lubbock, Texas. When I attended Texas Tech, each January after the roots of the dead cotton plants decayed the wind would pick the dust up and the sun would be reduced to only a small, dull orange dot.
I’d walk to class with my eyes closed–I’d peek every few steps to make sure I was still on the sidewalk. When I got to class, I’d have sand grains between my teeth. Now that’s a sandstorm!
