While leaving Amman, we spoke to a couple on their return trip from Egypt. They said they took a Nile River Cruise that had twenty people on a boat made for hundreds. There were lines of idle tourist boats lined off the docks–no tourists.

They said everywhere they went, Egyptians were friendly and grateful that tourists were there. They assured us they felt completely safe the entire time. I was really convinced I may still see Egypt.
