Running

Running is truly living–once you take it up as a lifestyle. When I was 50, I was 50 pounds overweight, and I mainly sat on the couch. My stubborn wife insisted I change.

We started running with Houston Fit, a marathon training club. We changed what we ate. We changed everything.

I’m 58 now. I’ve lost that 50 pounds a long time ago, and running is a very important part of my everyday life.

I’ve run several half and full marathons, but it’s not the races that matter. Its the running itself.

This is the long way to say that this weekend is the Houston Marathon. It’s an important annual event in our family now. We live next to it. My sisters are coming into town for it. One sister is running in it.

Signs are going up everywhere for it. Its almost as good as Christmas. Whether we’re in the race or not–we’re runners.
