Pay The Piper
People had varying reactions to the fact that I was going to travel for a year. A common exclamation was, “Aren’t you worried about being robbed, getting sick, or hurting yourself?” Yes, there is no such thing as a free lunch, by traveling in order to experience new places and cultures, you accept the various risks that come with that, to deny them would be fool-hardy and asking for trouble. Letting your baseless fear paralyze you from immersing yourself in the fantastic places and people of the world, is just as tragic. Keeping a level head when evaluating the risks reported by various parties while not taking foolish risks is a delicate balance. There is a way to travel to the more “dangerous” climes safely. Don’t believe the hype, not everyone is out to kidnap your snowflake ass for ransom, you aren’t that special.
Yellow Journalism was coined in the mid 1890’s and refers to a style of reporting that is designed solely to attract attention. The products of these methods are not underpinned by any sort of facts or verifying research, the one goal is to sell the most amount of papers in the shortest amount of time. Yellow Journalism is making a comeback in the modern era of ADD and pay per click advertising….
