Buffalo Bayou Park Looks Good After Floods

I road my bike through our new Buffalo Bayou Park this morning to survey the damage from the flood waters. Before I got there I was worried the water level might still be over the trails.

But when I arrived, though the water is still high, it’s in its banks. I was also worried if the park’s design would hold up under the flood waters, but you can see that considering what it went through this week, the park looks very good.

A couple of parts that are going to need some work include the volleyball sand court and the adjoining field. The dog park looked like a wreck, but the dogs might like that. It looked closed this morning.

There were a lot of city workers and volunteers at the park cleaning and shoveling sand off the walkways. It looks like the park was properly designed to endure Houston floods, and it gives me hope that we’ll have the current version of Buffalo Bayou Park for a long time.

Poet’s Tree? I saw this but no other signs or direction. What’s Poet’s Tree?
